Below my own quick summary, you can try my steps first, and refer to the full guide if anything fails Step 1: installation of required programs and driversįull and updated instructions here. The method below works much more generally and conveniently than anything else I've tried. I also got decent results at some point with x360ce, but it takes a lot more effort to set up and does not allow rumble effects. my advice, based on experience and advice I got from others, is to completely forget about Steam controller setup - don't even touch it. Just to get this out of the way: Steam is apparently supposed to support Dual Shock 3 natively, but in my experience, everything around controller support and configuration in Steam is absolute crap. The cable is needed whenever you want to connect a DS3 controller to your PC *for the first time*, or re-connect it to the PC after you've connected it to your PS3.

To set things up, you will need a USB cable of the kind that's needed to connect the controller to your PS3.
